When a toddler is put down for a nap or in his bed at night with a milk or juice bottle, the sugar stays coated on the teeth for hours. This might get your little one settled down but it sets a precedent for dental problems. Often, the two top and bottom teeth show signs of decay and need to be removed. As a child is learning to talk, there may be some problems with learning to say some sounds clearly.
Water is the best thing to put in your baby or toddler's bottle if they need it to go to sleep. The fluoride in water is good for teeth. Your little one should not be allowed to crawl or walk around with the bottle in his mouth either. You need to get your child used to drinking healthy drinks and water. The sugary drinks are not healthy as regular drinks.
It is not too early to start dental care with your child. You can gently wipe an infant's gums to get them used to you taking care of their teeth. You'll want to use a child's soft bristled brush for brushing. If you start early, you child should transition to brushing on his own. without having lost any teeth before it is time for the tooth fairy.
