Art Activities For Youngsters

Children love to make things. While not everyone is an artist, there is something that almost everyone can do. For example, if a couple of drops of color is added to bubble solution and the bubbles are blown and allowed to pop on paper, it leaves interesting colored marks. You can make your own bubble solution by putting dish liquid in water. Light colored sand can be purchased by the sack. You can put some sand in a plastic bag and sprinkle in a few drops of  food coloring. Shake it well and let the sand dry. Children can glue sand to paper or layer it in small plastic or glass containers.

If you don't mind some mess, paper mache is an activity kids enjoy. After they have covered a balloon or made an animal, let the object dry and, then the kids can paint it. You just might be surprised at some of the creations! You can purchase inexpensive beads and string for making anklets, bracelets or necklaces. If you can protect it from little children and pets, you can keep a jigsaw puzzle out on a card table. You can purchase discontinued or reduced price craft kits. Your artists can get a head start on holiday gifts.

Most people have stacks of photos stuck in drawers. On a rainy day, it could be an interesting way to spend time, going through photos. Older kids or teens may be interested in scap booking their own pages. Making collages of things they like is the perfect activity for elementary aged children. Using blunt scissors and a glue stick, they can cut out pictures from magazines and glue them on poster board. It would be interesting to listen to them explain why they chose specific patterns. You can find out some interesting things about your child during art activities.
