Ways To Keep Kids Hydrated This Summer

It's fun to play in water outdoors but the body needs water on the inside to stay hydrated in the hot summer. Kids need to drink plenty of water. It is a good idea to keep chilled water bottles in the refrigerator. If they are kept in a cooler, kids are not in and out out the fridge all day. You can purchase inexpensive drink bottles. If the kids are old enough, they can help pick out one with their favorite sport or cartoon character on it. When the drink bottle is empty, simply refill and put back in the cooler.
You can make popsicles out of juice in mold purchase in the store. Freezing paper cups containing juice or lemonade make wonderful, refreshing popsicles. The younger the child, the smaller the cup should be for practical purposes. If you have young kids and you want to give them watermelon, simply put them in bathing suits and let them sit in an empty kiddy pool. Hosing them down makes clean up a snap.
Other ways to get water into your kids to provide them with foods that are high in water content. This could include cantaloupes, watermelon, honeydews and grapes. If you spread grapes out on a cookie sheet and put them in the freezer for thirty minutes or so, you'll have a refreshing snack full of vitamins, minerals and water. You must save this snack for older children who can fully chew them. Young kids swallow grapes easily. You can place bowls of high water content fruit on the table with bamboo skewers and let your youngsters make their own fruit kabobs. Keeping your young ones inside during the hottest part of the day will also help prevent dehydration.
