Neurotoxic Baby Foods?

Many experts say that feeding organic foods to your baby and youngsters has many benefits. The developing brain and nervous system are impacted by pesticides and antibiotics that are in processed foods. The U.S. National Academy of Science studies show that by the age of five years, children have attained 35% of the total amount of pollutants they will be exposed to during their lifetime. Exposure to neuro-toxic organo-phosphates is known to cause attention problems and learning
disabilities.

President Clinton signed the Food Quality Protection Act in 1996 which required the FDA to determine within ten years the minimal amount of acceptable toxins for children and babies. At the half-way mark in 2001, these levels had not been determined due to the log jam created in the courts by the big pesticide companies. Of course, they do not want people to know how much unhealthy chemicals our babies and children are ingesting. Pregnant women are passing these neuro-toxic elements to their babies through the placenta. Babies are receiving toxins through breast milk.

As the public becomes more aware of the toxins in food products, the warnings about pesticide and antibiotic foods are becoming louder and more insistent. More people are looking for or growing organic foods. They may be more expensive at this time but it is well-worth the price to avoid poisoning our children.
